Product Safety Alerts
The NMSO publishes selected product safety alerts considered relevant to construction products, buildings and building services.
The alerts and annual lists presented on this page do not constitute a complete record of all product safety notifications. Economic operators, designers, specifiers, contractors, installers, building owners and consumers should regularly consult the EU Safety Gate and CCPC websites for the latest information.
Official notifications should always be reviewed before taking any compliance, purchasing, specification or remedial action, as product details, risks, corrective measures and recommended actions may be updated after publication.
Safety Gate Alert Lists by Year
The NMSO maintains annual lists of selected EU Safety Gate notifications considered relevant to construction products, buildings and building services.
These lists cover selected Safety Gate notifications only and are provided for information. They do not constitute an exhaustive record of all product safety alerts, recalls or notifications.

Safety Gate Alert System
Safety Gate is the European Union’s rapid alert system for dangerous non-food products. It enables the European Commission and national market surveillance authorities to exchange information quickly about products presenting a risk and the measures taken to address that risk.
Each notification contains information identifying the product, the nature of the risk and the measures ordered by a public authority or taken by an economic operator. Participating authorities can use this information to investigate whether the same product is available on their national markets and take appropriate follow-up action.
Competition and Consumer Protection Commission
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is Ireland’s statutory body responsible for promoting compliance with and enforcing competition and consumer protection law. It also has an important role in product safety and market surveillance in Ireland.
The CCPC publishes product recalls and product safety notifications and provides information to consumers and businesses about unsafe or non-compliant products and the actions they should take.
Users should consult the CCPC website for Irish product recalls and safety notifications, including notifications that may not be included in the NMSO’s annual Safety Gate alert lists.
