Safety Gate Alert System

The Safety Gate Alert system (previously Rapid Alert System, RAPEX) on dangerous products is an information exchange system by the European Community, and it is used by the Commission and the Member States to exchange information about dangerous products and the related measures. The Safety Gate system enables that information on measures taken against non-food dangerous products is circulated quickly among the national authorities responsible for product safety in the Single Market countries.

Every day, national authorities within the European Union send alerts to the Safety Gate. Each alert contains information on the kind of product detected as dangerous, a description of the risk and the measures taken by the Economic Operator or ordered by the authority. Every alert is followed-up by the other authorities, which take their own measures if they find the same product in their own national markets.

Market surveillance authorities have a statutory duty to report dangerous products, including construction products found on the market and the measures taken to remove the danger to EU Safety Gate. After this, authorities in other member states investigate based on the report whether the product can be found in their respective markets.

The most recent alerts specific to construction products are detailed below.
